Four Teams Advance to Semifinals of the 2025 US Open Polo Championship
The excitement is building as the 2025 US Open Polo Championship, the most prestigious tournament in the United States, reaches the semifinal stage. As the final event in the Gauntlet of Polo series, this year’s championship has delivered high-intensity matchups and standout performances at the National Polo Center in Wellington, Florida.
After an intense weekend of quarterfinals on April 12 and 13, four teams have emerged to battle for a coveted spot in the final on Sunday, April 20: La Dolfina Catamount, Park Place, Coca Cola, and La Dolfina Tamera.
Twelve 22-goal teams entered the tournament, divided into four competitive leagues. The first semifinalist, Park Place, secured their place with a dominant 16-11 win over La Fe Eastern Hay on Saturday. The team, fresh off their USPA Gold Cup victory, showed no signs of slowing down.
Sunday’s matches were equally thrilling. La Dolfina Catamount edged past Globalport with a narrow 11-10 victory, a strong statement from Scott Devon’s team, featuring Poroto Cambiaso, Rufino Merlos, and Jesse Bray. Coca-Cola, finalists in both the CV Whitney Cup and USPA Gold Cup, claimed a tight 14-13 win over Brookshire, with Polito Pieres putting on a spectacular 10-goal performance despite a match filled with penalties and yellow cards. La Dolfina Tamera rounded out the semifinalists with a commanding 16-9 win against The Setai, led by an on-fire Diego Cavanagh, who scored 10 goals.

Established in 1904, the US Open Polo Championship has a long and storied history. From its humble beginnings with just two teams in New York to becoming the crown jewel of American polo, it has been held in various locations before settling in Wellington, Florida, in 2004. The iconic perpetual trophy, first presented in 1910 and briefly stolen in 2002, is now kept safely at the Museum of Polo and Hall of Fame in Lake Worth, Florida.
This year’s Gauntlet of Polo series includes three premier tournaments:
- CV Whitney Cup – Winners: La Dolfina Tamera (Feb 8–23)
- USPA Gold Cup – Winners: Park Place (Feb 27–Mar 23)
- US Open Polo Championship – (Mar 26–Apr 20)
