A sixth chukker Travieso (Teo Calle, Tony Calle, Felipe Viana and Alfredo Capella) rally fell short as Dutta Corp. (Timmy Dutta, Carlitos Gracida, Piki Alberdi and Mariano Gracida) held on for the 11-10 victory in the second round of play in the 16-goal Santa Rita Abierto at the Grand Champions Polo Club Tuesday afternoon.
Carlitos Gracida scored the only goal of the opening chukker with a 60-yard penalty conversion, 1-0. Travieso was unable to score and trailed by a single goal at the end of the first period.
Dutta Corp. rolled off four consecutive goals with Timmy Dutta scoring the first goal of the chukker and Carlitos Gracida scoring twice on penalty shots and adding another from the field. Felipe Viana scored Travieso’s only goal of the day and left the field trailing by five goals, 6-1.
Travieso appeared to have gotten on track in the third period. A goal from the field from Alfredo Capella and a pair of penalty conversions for goals from Viana were answered by a goal from Dutta. At the end of the first half it was Dutta Corp. in the lead, 7-4.
Dutta Corp continued to press the attack in fourth period play. Three penalty goals from Carlitos Gracida were countered by a pair of penalty goals from Viana. Dutta Corp stretched their lead to four goals, 10-6. Capella scored both of the penalty goals for Travieso.
Dutta Corp. weathered a furious fifth chukker rally by Travieso. Two goals from Capella and a pair of goals from Viana were countered by a single goal from the field from Mariano Gracida. Dutta Corp. had weathered the storm and battled Travieso through a scoreless sixth period in the 11-10 Dutta Corp victory.
